Ponderings of life awaiting a hurricane

When fuzzy socks find their feet,

And faithful flannel thanks the morning chill for usefulness...

When summer shakes her apron loose the last of her sweet crumbs,

And stained glass cathedrals open to air and fill crusts golden brown....

When cotton quafs, peanuts turn,

Cool-capturing windows arise to cleansing breath ,

And angles' whispers chime, soft and low...

When while pinning pages of our weekly journal wet on the line,

A sweet pang of "leaf mould" on the breeze catches my senses, and suddenly time seems to inverse,

Uniting me with all that is beautiful and and sacred awaiting resurection...

When tree boughs lean and loose their leaves one to another like pupils passing secret notes...

When the reticent gulf breaches her catharsis

Lashing winds and waves of ancient tears,

Dousing cyber-light,

She bids us cease,

And hear her native tongue - a language our phones have nigh erased from memory...

When inked grafiti claims territory on my seven-boxed car train,

And the Conductor call "10-4"!

And I think of my now fifty turns around the Son,

And He who draws me return to my first Love...

Then my soul knows herself in Autumn.
